Lexus has launched the ES Moon Shadow Special edition in China, and it comes with a Maybach-inspired two-tone finish.
This car serves as the brand’s swan song to the current seventh-generation sedan, as a new model looms in the distance.
If there were one word to describe this car’s look, it’d be ‘distinctive’.
And that’s not all it has on offer, as the Corolla engine demonstrates.

This Lexus ES Moon Shadow Edition is a real head-turner
The most attention-grabbing thing about this car is its two-tone exterior finish.
The upper half of the car – the hood, the roof, and the pillars – is silver, while the lower body is black with deep purple undertones.
In this sense, the car bears some resemblance to luxury brands like Maybach or Rolls-Royce.

From top to bottom, this ES 200 exemplifies class, with an ‘Obsidian Black’ spindle grille with chrome accents, 18-inch bi-tone alloy wheels, and a full-width LED light bar at the rear.
And the name? Inspired by the sight of moonlight reflecting off a body of water, like a river or the ocean. How poetic.
Inside, the car runs on a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 170hp.

How much will this car be available for, and where will you be able to buy it?
For the time being, this is a Chinese-only car, priced at the equivalent of $44,700.
In terms of price, that places it between the base ‘Premium’ trim and the ‘Black Edition’.
Some of the amenities that come with this car include heated/ventilated power front seats, a 10-speaker sound system, and a 360-degree camera.
Only time will tell if we see this come to the US and other markets.

We sure hope so, because Lexus really is great.
Even though it’s no longer the top luxury brand at Toyota, it’s still renowned for its high-quality builds.
Just six months ago, the brand revealed a new Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week, boasting a twin-turbo V8.
Another LFA successor was also debuted at Germany’s Nürburgring.
