A limited Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS has been created to recognize the Transfăgărășan Road, a mountain route in Romania often described as one of the best places to drive.

Only 10 cars will be produced, each shaped through the Porsche Sonderwunsch program.

The edition uses the 534hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine from the standard Carrera 4 GTS.

And the first delivery took place on the road itself, linking the car directly to the place it was built to honor.

Why a Limited Porsche 911

The Transfăgărășan Road stretches 94 miles through Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.

Known for steep climbs, hairpin turns, and long tunnels, it has become a destination for drivers around the world.

In 2024, local Porsche clubs marked the road’s 50th anniversary with a gathering of more than 100 cars.

That celebration drew Porsche’s attention and led to the decision to commission a limited Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS dedicated to the landmark.

Mechanically, the model is unchanged from the current Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS.

Its flat-six engine produces 534hp, reaching 62mph in three seconds and a top speed of 194mph.

While few roads allow drivers to reach those speeds, the numbers underline the Carrera’s performance base.

The Porsche Sonderwunsch program added details that connect the car to its theme.

All 10 cars include commemorative badges, Romanian flag accents, and special door sills.

Each example also receives custom paint, interior trims, and finishing touches chosen with its buyer.

This approach means every car is part of the same series but built to stand apart from the rest.

The first car delivered shows how the concept works in practice.

Finished in Graphite Grey, it carries Guards Red accents on the wheels and headlights, and its rear grille is painted in Romania’s national colors.

Inside, Tribute markings appear on the headrests, dashboard, and armrest.

The car was handed over on the Transfăgărășan Road, where it was photographed against the backdrop that inspired its creation.

Porsche Sonderwunsch and the Future

The limited Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Tribute to Transfăgărășan reflects a wider use of the Porsche Sonderwunsch program.

Once a service for individual customer requests, it now supports projects that highlight cultural or historical themes through small production runs.

The Tribute shows how Porsche can connect its sports cars to specific places or moments while still relying on the established performance base of the Carrera.

Prices for the edition have not been made public.

In the United States, the standard Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS starts at $184,000, and Sonderwunsch projects typically push values higher.

Analysts expect each of the 10 examples to clear the $200,000 mark.

As demand for rare and personalized cars continues, Porsche is likely to use Sonderwunsch to create more limited Porsche 911 models that link heritage, geography, and performance in new ways.
