This man came across a 1973 Plymouth Gold Duster whilst exploring a derelict private property.

Photos of this classic were shared to Craigslist after it was found in a barn where it’d been sitting for a long while.

All things considered, the car wasn’t looking too shabby at all.

However, it’s not just the vehicle’s condition that is worth noting – this one is a rarity among Gold Dusters.

What makes this Gold Duster stand apart?

At first glance, the car featured in the pictures isn’t too dissimilar from others sharing its namesake.

The snake skin roof is in place and has put up a good fight against the passage of time.

However, that’s not what sets this car apart from its siblings – it’s the sunroof.

There’s no exact figure on how many Gold Dusters had both a snake skin roof and a sunroof, but it’s estimated to be exceptionally rare.

Being sold for $6,000, this car is located near Fall River in the US state of Massachusetts.

Any prospective buyers will need to bring a trailer for collection.

The Duster’s original six-cylinder engine is still in place but doesn’t start according to the seller.

The backstory of the Gold Dusters

The Gold Duster is a special model that was released in 1973, alongside others including the Twister and the Space Duster.

Anyone who purchased a Gold would get additional goodies such as badges and stripes.

A little bit like a party bag from a children’s birthday.

The Gold edition also featured vinyl seats and the aforementioned snakeskin roof.

It doesn’t get more 1970s than that, does it?

All things considered, this 1970s car has fared better than a lot of its contemporaries from the same decade.

This 1970s Lincoln was covered in rust after spending years in a Philadelphia yard.

But getting old is no guarantee of showing your age, as this inexplicably shiny 1971 Vauxhall Victor FE proved.

Meanwhile, this rescued 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle had a surprise on the cowl tag.
