A man found an abandoned 1972 Dodge Charger in the California desert – and fans of classic muscle cars may want to look away now.

The first Dodge Charger was launched back in 1966 and is now in its eighth generation.

Thanks to its lengthy lifespan, almost two million Dodge Chargers have been built since it was first introduced.

Due to their popularity, vintage Dodge Chargers aren’t exactly hard to come by.

These days, they pop up on Facebook Marketplace, in barns, crammed into storage, and even in forests

Recently, the man behind the Reverse Rocket TV YouTube channel found a 1972 Dodge Charger in the middle of the California desert.

Unfortunately, it’d had a pretty rough time, and that’s putting it mildly.

It’s unclear how the poor old Dodge came to end up in the middle of the desert, but what is clear is that it’d been used for target practice at some point.

The bodywork was completely riddled with bullet holes.

Sadly, the bullet holes weren’t even the worst of the damage on the vintage vehicle.

Not a single body panel was straight; the driver’s side roof had been completely flattened, the hood had disappeared, the front bumper was lying next to the car, and the lid of the trunk was folded back on itself.

So it’s safe to say it had seen better days.

The car’s condition was so bad, it’s actually hard to work out exactly what had happened to it.

Inside, as you might have guessed, it’s a similar story, and the interiors are completely beyond repair.

In fact, there’s nothing on the abandoned car that is salvageable at all.

Nonetheless, it was an interesting find for the YouTube explorer who found it.

He admitted that even after going on hundreds of similar searches, he’d never found a Dodge Charger

“I’ve filmed over a hundred videos and found hundreds of cars,” the YouTuber said. “Never have I found one of these. Never. Never ever.”

It’s just a shame it wasn’t in a better state.
