This is the incredible story of the one millionth Ford Mustang ever built.
It’s a fascinating story involving Ford and a Canadian airline pilot.
The story concerns Captain Stanley Tucker and his unique place in Ford history.
Because Captain Stanley Tucker happened to own both the first and the one millionth Ford Mustang.

Today’s story is a fascinating tale of Ford Mustang ownership – of not one, but two very special cars.
The Ford Mustang changed the car world forever when it first launched in 1964.
Michigan’s premier brand had been actively advertising the now-iconic car for weeks beforehand.
Mustang Serial Number One was taken on a tour of Ford’s Canadian showrooms and dealerships.
It ultimately wound up in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada – and this is where our story begins.

Airline pilot Captain Stanley Tucker just so happened to be driving past his local dealership when he saw a crowd forming.
Like others, he headed inside to see what the fuss was about – and as soon as he laid eyes on it, he knew he wanted it.
Captain Tucker managed to get his hands on the first Ford Mustang ever built.
Over the years, the company repeatedly asked to buy the car back, but Tucker steadfastly refused.
Tucker finally relents – gets one millionth Ford Mustang in return
Eventually, Tucker relented – but managed to make even more history in the process.
Tucker’s Mustang (Serial No. 5F08F100001) headed back to Dearborn to take its place in the Henry Ford Museum.
In exchange, the Blue Oval brand offered Tucker a brand-new 1966 Mustang free of charge.
But it turns out that Ford helped Tucker make even more history – because the car he was given was the one millionth Mustang.

Through the years, Tucker drove the Mustang thousands of miles – in fact, he even pulled a trailer with it.
By the time the 1970s rolled around, Tucker decided it was time to change his car.
So he sold his one millionth Ford Mustang to his local mechanic… and that was it.
No grand ceremony; no grand induction into a museum or a private collection.
Just a sale after daily usage and thousands of miles on the clock.
Speaking of Mustangs, the star of the Need for Speed film was recently uncovered in Las Vegas.
