Buying the cheapest Maserati Quattroporte in the world might sound reckless, but for YouTuber Dan Latham, it meant finally owning his childhood dream car.

The content creator had idolised the Pininfarina-designed Italian super saloon since seeing it on TV as a kid.

He even had a poster of one on his wall, long before he had a driving licence.

Years later, that poster car is now sitting on his driveway, although it’s in a different condition to what he once imagined.

It’s a dream car for many

The car in question is a 2007 Quattroporte, a model that once represented Maserati at its most Ferrari-influenced.

Under the bonnet sits a 4.2-litre Ferrari-derived V8, closely related to engines found in the F430 and early GranTurismo, pushing out around 400 horsepower.

This example uses the later ZF six-speed automatic gearbox, known for being smoother and easier to live with than the earlier DuoSelect system.

When new, cars like this carried a price tag that placed them firmly in high-end executive territory.

It’s the cheapest Maserati Quattroporte for a reason

Time, however, has not been gentle to this particular model.

The dark metallic blue paint shows heavy swirling, mismatched sections, and evidence of previous repair work, especially around the rear end.

Both taillights have seen better days, panel gaps are inconsistent, and the parking sensors appear to have been painted over at some point.

Inside, the classic early-2000s sticky interior trim is present, the infotainment screen currently refuses to cooperate, and one window switch seems to operate on its own schedule.

Despite the flaws, the Quattroporte still delivers on presence.

The cabin features soft leather, an Alcantara headliner, rear climate controls, and fold-out tray tables, giving it proper luxury saloon credentials.

Trident badges are scattered throughout the interior, constantly reminding occupants that this is no ordinary four-door.

Then there is the engine.

Fire it up, and the naturally aspirated V8 provides a rich, metallic soundtrack that transforms even a gentle drive into something memorable.

Mechanically, it felt promising, though Latham has noticed a front-end knock and some temperature worries when the car is pushed.

A thorough inspection, service, and a growing to-do list of cosmetic fixes lie ahead for the cheapest Maserati Quattroporte around.

Still, for a Ferrari-engined Italian super saloon that was the YouTuber’s dream car, the final purchase price makes the whole story even wilder: just £3,500 ($4,800).
