When this man bought some of the weirdest tech items he could find on Temu, including a keychain breathalyzer and a tiny fake iPhone, he was left with some concerns.

Temu sells just about everything you can think of, from parts to build a fake Bugatti to refurbished game consoles

But purchases can be a bit hit or miss – just ask the guys who bought the ‘world’s worst excavators’.

YouTuber Austin Evans recently vowed to stay off the cheap e-tailer, but it wasn’t long before he cracked and bought a bunch of weird tech items – and we do mean weird.

He bought a haul of weird tech items from Temu, here’s how they performed

Austin said he quit buying from Temu last year due to ‘price uncertainties,’ but he decided to dive back in for 2026 – and he didn’t shy away from jumping straight into the deep end.

After scrolling through the app, he selected several weird tech items, including a $25 keychain breathalyzer, a teeny tiny $24 film scanner, and a ND filter pair of glasses for $10.

Oh, and he also bought a seriously questionable t-shirt with a circuit board print that he was fairly convinced would arrive looking nothing like the image on its listing.

But when the $6.22 t-shirt arrived, he was pleasantly surprised with his purchase, although less than impressed with the smell.

Next up, he took a closer look at the mini film scanner, which he said was extremely easy to set up and get going.

With the small device set up, he was able to scan the negatives of some old family photos, and was ‘very happy’ with the results.

The ‘knock off’ ND filer glasses were also a winner for Austin, who said the $10 pair was ‘pretty cool’ and compared them to glasses that cost a lot more.

He also got a ‘fake iPhone’, officially called the XS 18 Pro, which looked a little like the real deal but was a whole lot smaller and, of course, not as advanced as an Apple device.

The mini phone cost $30, and the YouTuber reckoned it would make a cool gag gift for the price, just don’t go expecting it to replace your primary phone.

One item in particular left the YouTuber concerned

While Austin wasn’t too disappointed with most of the items he bought from Temu, there was one item that left him a little concerned: that $25 keychain breathalyzer.

“I’m just going to preface this by saying, maybe don’t trust a breathalyzer from Temu on whether or not you should get behind the wheel,” he said – and we have to agree.

Nonetheless, he gave it a go anyway.

The tiny device has audio instructions, which tell the user to blow into the tube for five seconds before giving a reading.

Austin tried it when he was sober and got a reading of 0.0 percent.

After a couple of ‘adult beverages,’ his blood alcohol level did rise, but was still under the legal drink and drive limit in most states.

But Austin went on to stress that he wouldn’t drive at his ‘current intoxication level’.

This is probably a good time to reiterate that it’s not a good idea to trust cheap tech bought online with your health and safety.
