A man had an incredible tale to tell after he bought a 1990 Pontiac 6000 that he’d left a note on almost 14 years ago.

This amazing story emerged in 2021, after John Simons had spotted the car in 2007 while he was at college.

Having a lot of love for Pontiacs, John left a note on the car praising it and left some kind words for the man who owned it at the time.

Amazingly, nearly 14 years after that day, John received a message from the family of the original owner.

What the note on the car originally said

The note left on the car was full of praise for the rare beast.

It read:

“Beautiful Pontiac 6000 AWD! What a rare car! I own a Pontiac Bonneville myself.

“If you ever want to sell this car, please let me know! John Simons.”

John left his e-mail address on the note and went about with the rest of his day.

The owner of the car, Dean Ross Sr, actually kept the note, and he passed away in March 2021.

Ross’s son and grandson then found the note left by John.

So they reached out to him, as he still had the same e-mail address from 2007.

John was then able to achieve his dream and buy the 1990 Pontiac 6000.

Why this American loved the 1990 Pontiac 6000 so much

The 1990 Pontiac 6000 is one of the rarest cars the American manufacturer ever made.

When it was built in 1990, it was the only all-wheel-drive sedan available from a General Motors brand until the 2000s.

The car also marked the end of an era.

Its traditional boxy Detroit styling gave way to more rounded, European-inspired designs.

The 1991 model year was the final one for the 6000.

The company then quietly dropped the model, and few people remember that it ever existed.

The one John Simons bought had 107,000 miles on the odometer, and it looked superb in his photos.

He has kept the car garaged since buying it, but he does take it out for the occasional drive.

While he hasn’t posted on it in a while, John did set up an Instagram page for the car.
