A man from New York was left puzzled after he noticed that his car had hair growing from the exhaust pipe.

He took to Reddit and asked if anyone knew what it was.

It turns out that he is not the only one, who is clueless about this.

Man left puzzled after seeing hair in his car’s exhaust pipe

The hair was first noticed by his girlfriend, who saw blonde hair coming out of his car’s tailpipe.

Since the owner of the car also had no idea what it was, he asked Reddit users if they had any idea what it was.

Although we don’t recommend using Reddit or any online forum to ask about important car-related things, it can sometimes be useful.

Case and point — earlier this year, a Reddit user found an undiscovered Cybertruck feature that no one else had found.

As expected of Reddit many users jumped to make all kinds of theories about what could be causing this issue.

One Redditor even joked about the car owner building an Alibi for the blonde hair, insinuating an affair.

However, the owner of the car joked back saying, “I’m going to need you to keep quiet we’re all friends here right?”

Despite the post getting much attention, not many of them had an idea of what it was exactly.

Thankfully, there are still people in the world who believe in fixing old cars and have faced this issue once or twice.

Instances like these make you realize that the internet can sometimes give you helpful tips on maintaining your car.

Muffler hair

All cars have a sound-damping material in the exhaust pipe that can come apart.

The material looks surprisingly like human hair and once undone it will start trailing out of the tailpipe.

It is also commonly known as ‘muffler hair.’

A quick visit to a mechanic can fix it up rather quickly.
