A man was surfing Craigslist and found the cheapest Tesla available, an offer he simply couldn’t resist.
He ended up spending $20,000 on a Tesla Model S, which was a great deal compared to the usual prices.
But – as they say – when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
This purchase came with a fair share of problems – it had some serious issues that weren’t immediately obvious, turning his dream Tesla purchase into a costly headache.

The cheapest Tesla bought on Craigslist
Rich from Rich Rebuilds documented the whole story on his YouTube channel, sharing his small journey with the Tesla he bought on Craigslist.
After a quick inspection, the problem with the battery was immediately clear, and this was going to be one of the most expensive parts to fix.
As Rich commenced with Tesla’s repairs, more and more problems surfaced, and the cost of getting the car back on the road added up quickly.
The situation was somewhat similar to the guy who tried fixing his Tesla Model 3 and faced countless challenges.
One of the biggest challenges he faced was finding the parts.
Tesla doesn’t make it easy for people to repair their cars outside of official service centers, and getting replacement parts – especially for an older Model S – was significantly challenging.
Thus, he had to rely on used parts and do a lot of DIY work, making the whole process even more frustrating.
A lesson well learned
What seemed like a simple repair turned out to be a much bigger project than he expected.
Unfortunately, Rich had to spend even more on the repairs than what he originally paid for the car.
Ultimately, the job was probably a mistake on his part, but also a lesson well learned – it’s better to check things first rather than buying them in haste just because they’re available at a knocked-down price.
