Many people wonder whether they could ever be capable of landing a plane such as a Boeing 737.
Well, one YouTuber had the same thought – so he decided to try it in a simulator.
The YouTuber in question has only ever been in one flight simulator prior to this.
But he decided to try to land this Boeing 747 in the ultimate ‘disaster scenario’.

YouTuber tries landing Boeing 737 simulator
This Boeing 737 sim landing essentially replicates everything you’ve seen in TV and movies before.
An airplane is flying peacefully along in the sky at several hundred miles per hour.
And all of a sudden, the entire crew and set of passengers is completely incapacitated.
It all falls down to one person to make sure the plane lands and everybody survives.
So one YouTuber has decided to play out that Hollywood scenario in a realistic Boeing 737 simulator.
Tom Scott is at the Airline Flight Academy Simulator facility in Dublin, Ireland.
Alongside qualified instructor Petter, Tom headed inside the simulator to try and save everyone on board.
Tom humorously explained that he never would have gotten access to the flight deck in real life.
The exercise starts with the Boeing 737 flying along on autopilot at 15,000ft in the air.
Petter tells Tom that the plan is essentially to tell the autopilot system what to do.
Because it acts as, essentially, a third crew member, the autopilot is perfectly capable of landing the airplane.
The aim was to get this Boeing 737 to safely land on the runway at Dublin Airport.
After adjusting the autopilot system, the airplane banked to the left while descending to 4,000ft.
Further speed and altitude adjustments saw Tom’s simulator start banking further on course.
Ground comes within touching distance
Tom finally got a visual of the runway at Dublin Airport and continued the process.
He descended below 1,000ft, and prepared for the final landing run at the Airport.
After a nerve-wracking run, Tom finally touched down on the asphalt at Dublin Airport.
The YouTuber then decided to do the run again – but this time without the help of autopilot.

After a brief, terrifying klaxon blare from turning off autopilot, Tom pitched the Boeing 737 forward.
Several manual changes and adjustments saw Tom edge closer to the final approach.
Ultimately, Tom just missed the main runway and crashed out on the grass.
But hey – it’s still a hell of a lot better than any of us could have done flying a Boeing 737 sim.
