This Maryland YouTuber found a $30,000 surprise hiding inside his salvage auction Corvette.
ScrapLife Lee brought the Corvette home from the salvage auction, and it didn’t look like much.
Admittedly, considering it had been on fire, it could have looked a lot worse.
But what was hiding in the hood of the car made it all worthwhile.

The $30,000 surprise sitting inside this Corvette
It’s always nice for a car to come with a surprise.
Sometimes the car is the surprise, as was the case when a woman got her boyfriend a truck he used to drive in high school.
But other times, the surprise is dwelling within the vehicle.

Many people have discovered these for themselves, like this man who purchased a super cheap Jaguar E-type S1.
For one Maryland YouTuber, though, the surprise was hiding underneath the hood.
ScrapLife Lee is no stranger to bombshell revelations, having previously discovered an unexpected item in a $6,600 Camaro SS.
But what he found in a burnt Corvette was extra special.
Namely it was a $30,000 427 LSX engine, designed by Steve Morris Engines.
Steve Morris Engines is a stand-out in the world of automotive companies.
With a tagline like ‘Innovation, not Imitation’, you’d expect nothing less, right?

Each year, the company produces less than 100 exclusive, full-custom engines, which are ‘tailored to the client’.
“The team at Steve Morris Engines has a simple philosophy: Always make things better, always improve, and always provide the best service and support in the industry,” the company website explains
With that in mind, what was Lee planning to do with the Steve Morris engine he’d come across?
Install two giant Garrett turbos to make 1,500HP, of course!
“Given that we just hit the junkyard lottery, I concocted up a bit of a challenge,” Lee said.
Could this Maryland YouTuber get the engine up to 1,500HP?
Before the Garrett turbos could be fitted, a few alterations had to be made.
The oil pan needed to be fixed so oil could drain properly, the super damper needed replacing, and the valve covers were modified.
The end result looked very nice.

And more importantly – it was a complete turbo kit.
It’d be real treat to see this new and improved Corvette out on the road once it’s back in fighting form.
