In the exciting run-up to the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept car is finally offering motorsport fans a glimpse into its highly exclusive Mythos series.
The radical design concept not only pays homage to legendary racing cars but the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed promises a Formula 1 feeling for two.
The small series model will debut next year but already has pulses racing, combining the tradition of Mercedes Benz with innovative materials and modern technology.

The breathtaking concept is for a completely open, two-seater performance car.
The first of the Mythos series, it notably has neither a roof nor a windscreen, echoing motor racing cars.
Beautiful cars have already been spotted on the waterways of Monaco ahead of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix this weekend – like this stunning Bugatti Chiron being loaded onto a superyacht.
This makes it the perfect setting for the first model in the highly-limited Mercedes-Benz Mythos series with only 250 units to be produced.
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team racing drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were reportedly ‘impressed’ – despite the crazy supercars they own in real life.
“The Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed offers a glimpse of what is probably the most direct way to experience performance and driving pleasure,” explained Michael Schiebe, chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and the head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes Maybach divisions.
“Radically open, neither a roof nor the windscreen separates the two passengers from the elements.
“You can experience light, air and passion unfiltered with all your senses. As the concept of our first Mythos vehicle, it embodies the highest level of exclusivity.”
He continued: “Design elements such as the HALO also create a Formula 1 feeling. There is therefore no better place for its world premiere than Monaco.”
The HALO system replaces the conventional vehicle A-pillar – a direct derivative of the premier class of motorsport that has been part of every F1 vehicle since 2018 to protect the driver’s head.
Two aerodynamically optimised helmets are also included.
A low-to-the-ground performance car inspired by the Mercedes AMG ONE hypercar, its sharply cut visible carbon fibre parts in the lower section contrast with the sensual, rounded feel of the upper.
The wheels feature unique carbon fibre cladding, with the rear wheel covers completely closed to improve aerodynamics.
Meanwhile, the front wheel covers allow for optimized airflow at the front end for brake cooling and downforce.
The long bonnet and low front end ‘shark nose’ are also a tribute to the Mercedes AMG ONE.
This time, however, its lower air intake is wider with AMG lettering and a dark, chrome-plated Mercedes star.
Up top, the aerodynamically optimized, sportive bonnet has an additional air outlet, alongside small, transparent deflectors at the front and sides to direct the elements over the exposed cockpit.
Its precise design is evident in the side-sill panelling with aero flics, while the muscular shoulders above the wide-track rear wheels merge into the elegant boot lid and a width-emphasising rear apron.
In homage to F1, the two flying buttresses behind the seats reflect legendary racing cars like the 300 SLR, in which Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won the 1955 Mille Miglia in Italy.
The eye-catching paintwork transitioning from Le Mans red to graphite grey with a black AMG pattern – alludes to the colour scheme of the victorious Mercedes car at the 1924 Targa Florio race in Sicily.
The number 10 can be found on the front wings, a nod to that same victory 100 years ago.
