Rebuild expert bought a Mercedes-Benz S-Class and then found a strange note left by mechanic

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 600 was picked up by a rebuild expert at a salvage auction.

The car, listed as ‘runs and drives,’ looked promising, but there was a hidden issue that could have destroyed its engine.

In the trunk, a mechanic had left a note that read, ‘Do not start. No oil.’

However, despite this clear warning, the auction company started the engine, putting the V12 at serious risk.

The expert, who runs the YouTube channel Waldo’s World, shared the story after he brought the car into his shop.

The guy discovered that the lower oil pan had a puncture.

Thankfully, it wasn’t too deep, so the damage was limited.

The mechanic’s note could have prevented any problems, but it was ignored by the auction house.

On further exploring the car, he found more damage.

The catalytic converter was in rough shape, and the transmission pan and exhaust had dents.

Luckily, neither was too bad, and the car had no rust.

He decided to fix everything himself.

Instead of replacing the catalytic converter, he reshaped it back to its original form and patched it up.

It wasn’t pretty, but it was functional.

After adding nine liters of oil, the engine started without issues, which was a relief.

Restoring the car like new

Later on, a fuel leak emerged and needed fixing.

Once that was taken care of, he drove the car out of the garage.

The transmission shifted smoothly, and everything seemed fine.

To ensure the car stayed in good shape, he planned to replace all the fluids and filters.

This Mercedes-Benz S-Class had a close call, but the expert’s work paid off.
