After years of confusion, this ‘mystery button’ has finally had its use aired, and it could change driving habits entirely.
Not every driver knows every nook and cranny of their car.
Especially when the dashboards continue to evolve and get increasingly complex.
But one button that has remained a mystery for a decade has finally been explained and drivers are excited to use its feature.

‘Mystery button’ on cars is finally solved
Dashboards have become incredibly detailed, so much so that the new Dodge Ram has left passengers mindblown by their innovative and unprecedented new features.
Still, there’s clearly a lot to learn, and one driver has taken to Reddit to find out what one ‘mystery button’ actually does.
The Redditor was left confused by a button that depicted a car with an alarm-like signal in the center.
“I just got myself a 2014 Peugeot 308 and have found a button on the dash and I have no idea as to what it does,” they said on the platform, searching for answers.
The driver assumed it was ‘some kind of radar detection maybe, so mobile speed camera or something,’ but that theory was proven wrong.
The function of the button has now been revealed to be ana volumetric alarm system for the car interior.
It’s especially useful if you’re leaving people in your car while nipping out and locking it; whether that’s passengers or pets on board, it will stop the car alarm from going crazy while you leave it stationary.
Of course, the alarm is supposed to be activated as its an anti-theft precaution and should only be toyed with if you know you’re leaving someone or something that moves inside.
“They ask people to use these on car ferries too, rather than having a whole deck of blaring car alarms,” one user wrote.
Others thanked the Reddit masterminds for revealing this and saving them from the death stares they would usually get walking back to a car that was obnoxiously beeping.
While this is rather practical, new cars have some rather ludicrous features nowadays, such as the futuristic BMW iX Flow that physically changes paint color while you drive.
