NBA rookie Cooper Flagg has been given a strict $180K spending limit on his first car by his mom, despite the fact that he’s signed a $62M deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Even before he came to the Mavericks, the 18-year-old had already secured NIL deals with New Balance and Fanatics worth a reported $28 million.

So it’s fair to say that the athlete has cash to spare.

But even so, his mother has put her foot down regarding how much he’ll spend on a flash car.

Now he’s at the Dallas Mavericks, Cooper Flagg has been given a $180,000 spending limit on his car

Being 18 and earning big bucks must be a weird experience, but proper guidance is key.

For Cooper Flagg, a rookie signed with the Dallas Mavericks, his mom, Kelly, is on hand to remind him of the value of money.

In an interview with Chime before the 2025 NBA draft, Cooper and Kelly discussed the matter of an expensive sports car.

Because let’s face it, many pro-athletes will splash a lot of cash on a fancy car once they hit the big leagues.

But for Kelly, it’s important that her son knows the value of money.

“Do not buy a Bugatti right away,” she told him.

Give it a few years, and he’ll be repping his own Bugatti like he’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

In a later portion of the interview, the two were asked to give a specific number to an item.

When it came time to give a maximum figure on a car, Kelly wrote down $180,000, while Cooper wrote $200,000.

That’s not too far off, to be fair.

It looks like mother and son are pretty much on the same page when it comes to cars.

So that just begs the question…what will his first car be now that he’s an NBA player?

Many athletes spend a lot of money on their cars

It’s easy to see where it could get tempting for Cooper Flagg to dish out millions for a car.

After all, many in the world of professional sports have spent fortunes on their cars.

Whether it’s fellow basketballers like Devin Booker or golfers like Rory Mcllory, there are supercars abound in the world of sports.

That’s no different for those who are retired from sports – Shaquille O’Neal’s car collection is the stuff of legend.

Cooper Flagg is still young; he’s got loads of time to accumulate an awesome car collection if he wants to.
