A new Ford SUV is here, but if you fancied getting hands-on with the Bronco EV, you’re going to have to leave America.
Ford is American through and through. Cut open the engine, and the oil bleeds the blue, white, and red of Uncle Sam.
And the Bronco range has been pivotal to becoming one of the biggest manufacturers in the country.
But now, the new Ford SUV, a Bronco EV, is ditching the white and blue as it’s been given the red carpet treatment all the way over to China.

New Ford SUV announced for Chinese markets
As Chinese EVs look to penetrate the American market, with brands like BYD looking to dethrone Tesla, these American brands are having to hit back hard.
Ford was one, as it was overtaken in the American EV market by Chevrolet.
Even though there have been promising signs with the Mach-E, the hearty American company has now launched a new Bronco EV, although it’s only going to be available in China.

The third member of the Bronco family has arrived with some stark differences from the usual American SUVs, and the biggest of which is the bulky electric motor.
With a 217hp powertrain and a hybrid setup, the new Ford SUV is actually capable of a whopping 758 miles when using the full battery and a tank of gas – that’s the entire width of Texas.
Visually, there are a few differences too, taking inspiration from the Chinese Bronco Sport.
Being much more boxy than the American version, it’s a look not all too familiar in China and more accustomed to the UK, with the Land Rover.
Can it rival the most popular Chinese EVs?
The new Ford SUV enters a competitive market, as models like the Chery Tiggo and Exeed VX are already very popular.
And it comes just a matter of weeks after the new Xiaomi YU7 launched with over 200,000 orders within three minutes.
But the Bronco EV will take over from the F-150 and other models that were pulled from China in 2024.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Ford sold around 400,000 units in China in 2024, which is nearly double that in 2022, but only a quarter of that seen in 2016, showing the volatility of the Chinese market.

Ultimately, the Bronco EV could be a popular option with its boxy appearance, but only time will tell if it can unseat the popular Chinese models.
