Ever fancied sharing a Supercar Blondie reel with the group chat but accidentally lost your place in the doomscroll? Well, thanks to a new Instagram feature, your pain is over.

The new age of tech has seen news consumption, creative content, and memes all conform to the ‘shorts’ video style.

Popularized by TikTok and YouTube, and later adopted by X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, we now spend hours a week swiping up to our next 10-second entertainment blast.

But having fallen down the pecking order with its video game, a new Instagram feature is reel-ing us all back in.

Instagram finally adds ‘watched’ list

While the platform continues to evolve in some weird ways, Instagram has now answered your prayers with a fix to its biggest issue.

It’s an all-too-familiar woe, but losing your place on Instagram reels while trying to share the video with friends can be painful.

However, much like YouTube and TikTok, the Meta platform has now added a feature that allows you to find your recently-watched reels.

Taking to the platform that he runs, Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, revealed that your ‘watch history’ will be added to the ‘your activity’ section of the app, which allows you to revisit old reels.

“You can see every reel that you’ve ever watched,” he said.

“You can sort it from oldest to newest or newest to oldest. You can go to a specific date or date range, and you can even filter it down to a specific person or account that posted that reel.

“Hopefully, now you can find that thing that you were trying to find that you couldn’t find before.”

New Instagram feature hailed by fans

With millions of people already clocking the post, avid users of the platform have now expressed their pleasure with the new watch history section.

“Yeah, that’s what I always wanted,” one user wrote, accompanied by a fire emoji.

“Finally, something that is helpful!” added another.

“Love this!” wrote a third.

The new Instagram feature is rolling out across the platform now, and will be the perfect way of hanging on to cool Christmas ideas that you might see ahead of the holiday season.
