Nine new emojis are officially confirmed in Apple’s newest update.
The emojis are coming as part of the latest iOS 26.4 update schedule.
There are already more than 3,900 emojis in the Unicode Standard.
But it appears that these nine new options are next.

New emojis coming in iOS 26.4 update
Emojis are a very key part of iPhone usage nowadays.
The cartoon creations can convey pretty much any emotion you can think of.
Over the years, they have become a core part of the iPhone experience.
And now, users are about to get nine more options.
Apple’s newest iOS 26.4 update has had some details released.
And the headline news is the release of nine brand-new emojis.

So what are the lucky nine that are coming to iPhone users?
They are a trombone, a treasure chest, a distorted face, a hairy creature, a fight cloud, an apple core, an orca, ballet dancers, and a landslide.
This update is expected to be released sometime around March or April of this year.
But there is an even bigger update to emojis expected by the end of this year.
And that update is iOS 27.
Even bigger selection coming by 2027
As part of that update, a further selection of images is expected be released.
There are a squinting face emoji, left and right pointing thumb gestures, a pickle, a lighthouse, a meteor, an eraser, and a net with a handle.
A Reddit post was published with detailed information on the release.
“If approved, these emoji, along with 10 additional skin tone variants, would likely arrive on iPhones in late 2026 or early 2027 as part of iOS 27.”
Of course, social media has been alight with reaction to the news.
And it was especially the announcement of the pickle that really got people talking.

“Will pickle overtake eggplant?” was the burning question on one user’s mind.
“Pickle or eggplant? Which team are you on?” said another.
And the pickle-related thoughts just kept on coming.
“Eggplant’s days are numbered, and having Rob Van Dam thumbs is going to be great,” said a third.
So, how soon can this pickle-mania be expected to land on iPhones?
This second – and bigger – update is expected at the end of this year or the very beginning of 2027.
But it appears that a whole lot of variety is coming to the world of emojis.
