Noel Gallagher says the ‘most expensive mistake’ he ever made was splashing out on a $110,000 Jaguar that he bought for himself despite not being able to drive.
Noel decided to treat himself to the expensive Jaguar in the 1990s, after hitting mega stardom with Oasis.
As the car was custom-built, Noel thought he’d have plenty of time to learn to drive before it was delivered.
But that turned out not to be the case, and decades on, the Jag is still parked up in a garage.

Noel Gallagher and his most expensive mistake – a custom Jaguar
Celebrities and top-notch car collections go hand-in-hand, but they’re not always shouting about them.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has admitted he ‘doesn’t know why’ he’s amassed a haul of 40 cars, while celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay says his high-end car collection makes him ‘embarrassed’.
And it seems that even stars who can’t drive are unable to resist the lure of a luxury car.

At least that certainly seems to be the case for Noel Gallagher.
During a 2019 interview, he revealed his most expensive mistake was handing over $110,000 to a company that takes vintage car chassis and rebuilds them with modern engines.
He opted for an MK2 Jaguar from 1967 – the year he was born.
As the cars were made to order, Noel knew he would be waiting up to two years to have the car delivered, which he thought was enough time to learn to drive.
However, time seemingly flew by for Noel, and one day he noticed a trailer outside – all set to drop off his Jaguar.
Still without a license, he took delivery of the car and stowed it away in his garage.
Fast forward to 2019, and the car was still there.

“The Jaguar I bought has got, I think, 12 miles on the clock and is still sitting in the garage,” he revealed in the interview with Radio X.
When asked how long it’d been there, he admitted ‘since the 90s’.
What became of the custom-built Jaguar?
Noel has since bid farewell to his most expensive mistake.
He had it recommissioned by the same company he bought it from and sold it on for a profit.
The car had just 2,000 miles on the clock when it was sent to be recommissioned, none of which came from Noel.
He’d only ever been in the car as a passenger with either his personal driver or his wife behind the wheel.
In 2022, Jaguar Land Rover Classic took ownership of it to use it as a promotional vehicle, so at least it’s not collecting dust in a garage anymore.
