One of the key selling points of electric cars is that you don’t need oil changes, fluid changes, spark plugs, and so on.

That’s a fair point, and probably an underrated one.

Gas cars require constant upkeep in a million different ways, especially when it comes to rare supercars.

In some cases, the oil change alone costs more than a new car.

This Bugatti requires one of the most expensive oil changes in the world

As reported by CarBuzz, the number one spot is claimed by the Bugatti Chiron, which requires the most expensive oil change ever.

It features 16 separate drain plugs and a dry-sump setup requiring around 27 hours of specialized labor to remove body panels, rear bumpers, wheel liners, and side scoops just to access the engine.

Long story short? You need over $21,000 for an oil change.

Imagine that.

McLaren F1

The iconic McLaren F1 was expensive to buy and it’s even more expensive now, especially when it comes to the cash you need to run it.

The legendary 1990s icon is fitted with a gold-lined engine bay that requires intensive expert care and specialized maintenance protocols.

Translated into numbers with a dollar sign next to them: you need $8,000 for an oil change.

Porsche Carrera GT (for a wild reason)

A Porsche Carrera GT’s oil change is expensive for a very specific reason.

Because the engine is loosely related to an F1-grade V10, it requires very specific labor procedures and a specialized $10,000 jack just to lift the car and access its underbelly.

So the oil change per se isn’t too complicated, but reaching the components to actually do it is.

Lamborghini Murciélago and Ferrari Enzo

Both the Lamborghini Murciélago and Ferrari Enzo are worth mentioning, but with a caveat.

In general, an oil change for these two cars is not too expensive per se.

However, in both cases, the oil change is paired with several other (seemingly simple) things, which result in a very expensive service.

In the case of the Enzo, for example, you can easily shoot past the $10,000 mark.
