NBA fans were left puzzled when an ‘outrageous’ $3M Koenigsegg Regera pulled up to an arena decked out in LA Lakers colors.

Having been traded mid-season, Luka Dončić’s highly anticipated first game for the Lakers was anything but quiet.

When this eye-catching Regera arrived at the Crypto.com Arena, it was bound to get people talking.

But it left fans baffled and stunned in equal measure.

The purple $3M Koenigsegg Regera that got LA Lakers fans talking

A video of the beautiful car was shared to Instagram by the Crypto.com Arena account.

In the caption was an effective slogan: ‘Full Tank. No Mercy.’

As the car that stole the 0-250-0 mph record from the Rimac Nevera, this particular tag line is well deserved.

So what was the backstory behind this supercar’s seemingly random appearance?

With a No. 77 on the side door and a Jumpman logo on the hood, it quickly became apparent this was part of a wider Jordans campaign.

The centerpiece of said campaign was an ad which aired before the game.

In it, a hooded figure stood next to the Regera dressed in grey sweats.

The man, meant to represent Dončić, removed the Texas number plate from the hypercar and replaced it with a California plate.

This obviously served as a nod to the basketballer’s transfer from the Dallas Mavericks to the west coast team.

Admittedly, it was very cool that the car in the advert made a real-life showing at the game.

If it’s good enough for the founder of ChatGPT, it’s good enough for the Lakers’ newest signing, right?

As if that wasn’t cool enough, Team Jordan also unveiled signs all over Los Angeles that read’ Honk if you love Slovenia’.

It was their way of revealing that Dončić – who hails from the central European country – had paid the parking fees of every attending fan.

That’s pretty awesome.

Fans have some questions about the stunt

As much as they would have appreciated the paid parking fees, Lakers fans would have still had some questions on their mind.

Some were left speculating over whether or not the 26-year-old star was behind the wheel of the Regera.

Dončić already has 13 cars in his collection, so it begged the question – was this the newest addition?

Would the purple Regera be joining this custom-built Apocalypse Hellfire in Dončić’s garage?

But with the windows tinted, there was no way for onlookers to know if the Slovenian baller was behind the wheel of the car.

At any rate, Dončić’s debut for the Lakers was a huge success, as he scored 14 points, not ncluding rebounds and assists.

So maybe we can call the Regera a lucky omen?
