Vin Diesel said that Brian O’Conner, the iconic character played by Paul Walker in Fast and Furious, is coming back for the franchise finale.
The 57-year-old actor made the announcement at a car fest and the crowd’s reaction, as you can imagine, was quite something.
We don’t know how they’re going to bring him back, but we can hazard a guess.
And some people already predicted this.
Fast and Furious is bringing Brian O’Conner back
Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson and Paul Walker’s brother, Cody Walker, attended Fuel Fest in Phoenix, Arizona where they dropped this absolute bombshell.
Yes, Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, is coming back for the Fast and Furious finale.
Actually, we should probably rephrase that because this may not be an absolute bombshell as some people already predicted this after watching the ninth film, F9: The Fast Saga.
The movie F9, the second to last installment in the saga, ends with a cryptic scene hinting at the return of Brian O’Conner.
After saving the world for the umpteenth time, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his extended family celebrate with a barbecue at Dom’s house in Los Angeles.
At that point, Dom’s sister and Brian O’Conner’s wife Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) looks at Dom and says “he’s on the way”.
Seconds later, we see Brian O’Conner Skyline arrive in the driveway.

After Paul Walker’s death in 2013, his character Brian O’Conner was retired – not killed – in the storyline, and never appeared in any of the following movies, but this is going to change probably (indirectly) because of Fast X.
Fast X was originally designed to be chapter one of a two-part finale, but it underperformed at the box office despite costing a fortune to make, and it went so far off the rails with over-the-top special effects that even hardcore fans rolled their eyes.
More importantly, it completely derailed from the original theme, street racing and tuned cars.
As a result, the production team went back to the drawing board and decided to go back to basics.
As both Vin Diesel and Fast 11 (working title) director Louis Leterrier confirmed, the next movie, which should also be the final movie, will be set in Los Angeles, and it’ll focus more on cars.
How they’re going to bring Brian O’Conner back

Paul Walker died while on break from filming Furious 7, but still appeared in several scenes throughout the movie.
When filming resumed, Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody were hired to complete his remaining scenes, and CGI was used.
They did a great job, not just because of CGI but also because Caleb has the same height and build as Paul, which made him perfect for long shots and wider scenes, while Cody has similar facial features, which worked great for close ups.
We don’t know for sure but, presumably, Universal is going to use the same technique for the next movie, especially considering CGI has made huge progress since 2014-2015, when it was used in Furious 7.
