Meet Pivotal, makers of all-electric fixed-wing tilt aircraft that can take off and land vertically.

Its electric motors are much quieter than a helicopter’s.

And the aircraft doesn’t require a pilot’s license to fly.

Pivotal’s tilt aircraft is built to fly almost anywhere safely and efficiently

Helix, the company’s newest aircraft, is an eVTOL, which stands for electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing.

Pivotal has flown over 8,000 flights in its aircraft.

The aircraft is designed to take off without a runway, allowing flyers to reimagine where they can go and enjoy the world from an elevated perspective.

Pivotal’s unique tilt aircraft architecture lets pilots take off anywhere that’s out in the open – basically away from congested areas and busy airports.

The tilt aircraft design allows for the most efficient form of flight.

Pivotal can take off into a hover, then transition to cruise flight by tilting the fuselage, not the propellers or wings.

The tilt aircraft increases range and efficiency while reducing complexity and weight significantly.

Spec-wise, Helix is powered by eight motors, each of which has two dedicated batteries.

After a flight, when the battery is at a 20 percent state of charge, it takes about 75 minutes to recharge the battery using a 240V/50A outlet, or 4.5 hours using a 120V outlet, which is basically a home charger.

Pivotal’s aircraft is also very quiet, registering just 72 decibels in cruise mode, roughly the same as driving an electric car.

Helix is engineered to be quieter, more agile, and way simpler to fly than any aircraft on the market.

Why you don’t need a pilot’s license to fly it

The Helix flight deck was designed to be as user-friendly as possible, offering simplified flight controls, a digital flight panel, and single-joystick control.

The FAA doesn’t require a pilot’s license to fly ultralight aircraft.

Because Helix qualifies as an ultralight, meeting that requirement is not necessary.

For safety, you need to complete comprehensive simulator training and a series of check flights to become a Pivotal-certified pilot and take delivery of your aircraft.

Many people with zero flight experience learn to fly the aircraft and receive certification in as little as a few days.

Helix is in the ultralight category, which is why you don’t need a pilot’s license to fly it.

The cockpit was designed to be as user-friendly as possible, with a digital flight panel and simple, single-stick control.

While there is no FAA pilot license requirement, in order to fly Helix, you need to first complete simulator training as well as real-world solo flights before being certified by Pivotal.

Meaning that people with zero flight experience can learn to fly the aircraft in as little as a few days.

Pivotal is currently accepting fully-refundable $9,000 reservations for the Helix and enlisting future owners in its flight training program.
