This incredible Pontiac Firebird has managed to survive for more than 50 years.
And it comes with an even more fascinating background story.
The car itself is being sold as part of a wider estate.
And, according to the listing, it ‘smells exactly like 1974’ inside.

Incredible 1974 Pontiac Firebird survives after 50 years
The Pontiac Firebird is, historically speaking, an extremely cool muscle car.
It remains one of the most iconic muscle cars America has ever produced.
Arguably, the most legendary of all Firebirds was the second generation.
This was produced from 1970 all the way to 1981.
And it’s a 1974 model that is the star of this story.
This Pontiac Firebird Formula was listed for sale online very recently.
But it was listed with a very intriguing sales proposal.
For one thing, it is being sold as part of a wider estate.

And the other thing to note is that it is also being sold with no reserve.
This means that, when the auction ends, the highest bid will walk away with a legend.
In case you were wondering, the Formula was something of a special edition Firebird.
Interestingly, it was only the third-best-selling Firebird variation in 1974.
But it did come with a variety of engine options, ranging from the Formula 350 to the Formula 455.
The Formula 455, in turn, came with two options – the Trans Am base 455 or the Super Duty 455.
The car is as good as anyone could hope
This particular Pontiac Firebird has been cared for meticulously.
It was previously finished in the correct Cameo White paint job 20 years ago.
And it is still – somehow – shining without any signs of rust, and the interior is equally as well-kept as the exterior.
The seller claims it ‘looks, feels, and smells great,’ and there is very little evidence to contradict that.
And it gets even better – the engine under the hood is the original 400ci unit fitted with a four-barrel carburetor.

Overall, it is a car that starts, runs, and drives extremely well.
And the interest on eBay appears to agree, at the time of writing, bidding had already reached $16,100, with more than three days left to run on the auction.
If you fancy bidding, the car is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Good luck!
