The last Popemobile used by the late Pope Francis was an all-white customized Ram 1500 that was used during his funeral over the weekend.
The 88-year-old was head of the Catholic Church from March 13, 2013, until his death on April 21, 2025.
He was laid to rest on April 26, 2025, with thousands of people turning out to watch his coffin being carried from St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican to St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome for his burial.
He was carried to his final resting place in a white Ram 1500 Popemobile.

Pope Francis’s coffin was placed in a Ram 1500 Popemobile
Few cars are as well-known as the Popemobile: a specially designed vehicle that have been used by various Popes across the years.
The custom vehicles, which are always white, allow the Pope to travel safely through crowds and undergo all sorts of modifications to make them suitable for the job.

All vehicles in the Vatican City have registrations beginning with SC – an abbreviation of the Latin Status Civitatis Vaticanae [Vatican City State].
There have been numerous Popemobiles over the years, including a customized Mercedes-Benz G580 EV given to the late Pope Francis.
However, his coffin was placed inside a Ram 1500 Popemobile to be taken to his funeral.
The fourth-generation Ram had been fitted with a standing platform and protective overhead shield, but had open sides.
The late Pope Francis drove a Fiat 500
The choice of vehicle is quite fitting for Pope Francis, who was known for living a humble life.
He would often shun the Popemobile for public engagements and would instead walk or travel in more low-key vehicles.
His Holiness was once given a Lamborghini Huracán, but blessed it, signed it, and sold it off to raise money for good causes.

The car sold at auction for €715,000 – around $812,163 – and the money went to several causes and projects, including helping victims of trafficking and the reconstruction of the Nineveh Plain in Iraq.
Pope Francis appeared to prefer compact cars and was seen traveling around in a Fiat 500.
Other cars used by Pope Francis during his papacy included an Isuzu D-Max, and a Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Oh, and he also chose to embrace new technology after being gifted a Toyota Mirai—a hydrogen car—during a visit to Japan.
