This Porsche Carrera GT has been completely rebuilt.

But the project is a whole lot more fascinating than just that.

This Porsche rebuild is actually a full recommission by the German factory itself.

And it’s been done so the car can serve as a Le Mans tribute.

Porsche Carrera GT was totally rebuilt by the brand

So this is one of the more intriguing restoration projects you will ever see.

Because this is not the product of an individual’s imagination.

Instead, it is a full-factory effort from Porsche itself.

And the basis of said project is the only V10-powered supercar the brand ever created.

The supercar in question is, of course, the Porsche Carrera GT.

Porsche used a customer’s 2005 Carrera GT as the basis of this incredible creation.

The project itself was carried out by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch Manufaktur division.

And the marque did so at the specific request of one particular client.

Owner Victor Gomez is the Puerto Rico-based collector who owns this stunning Carrera GT.

And he approached Porsche wanting two specific things.

The first was a complete mechanical overhaul and reset.

And the second aim was to achieve a visual throwback to one of Porsche’s most legendary race cars.

As you might imagine, Porsche was only too happy to oblige.

Porsche overhauls supercar from head to toe

The German plant fully disassembled this Carrera GT in order to rebuild it to zero-mile condition.

A major overhaul of all the components and technical systems was completed.

The biggest of these overhauls was the V10 powerplant at the heart of the supercar.

Gomez himself made multiple visits to the factory to review the progress and approve changes throughout the build.

As you might imagine, the most striking detail is the exterior.

It now wears the red-and-white Salzburg colors associated with the Porsche 917K.

This car is legendary for delivering the manufacturer’s first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970.

Putting such a finish onto the Carrera GT required significant work, as the 917K differed significantly from this car.

Porsche designers refined the layout through sketches, digital renderings, and physical tape mockups before finalizing the graphics.

After being finished in Indian Red and white, a No. 23 was hand-painted on the exterior.

And the complete changes continue on the inside.

This Carrera GT received Guards Red Alcantara on portions of the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and center console.

So why is this project so significant?

The most important reason is that it underscores the enduring significance of the Carrera GT.

Despite just 1,270 units being produced, it remains one of the modern icons of the supercar world.

It was produced, of course, for just three years, from 2003 to 2006.

The 5.7-liter V10 was originally derived from Porsche’s abandoned LMP 2000 endurance program.

This project emphasizes Porsche’s commitment to preserving its most iconic cars.

And that commitment is reflected in the best way possible – by being enjoyed and driven to the max.
