In what might be the weirdest trade we’ve seen, a dealership said a man swapped his ultra-rare R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V Spec II for a Nissan Leaf EV.
This is according to a post from Eagers Nissan, an Australian Nissan dealership, that showed an image of the man called Barry who traded the R34 in 2022.
The R34 GT-R is one of the most famous sports cars ever made, and it is worth an incredible amount of money.
So trading one for a Nissan Leaf EV does seem a slightly unusual move.

Why trade a R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V Spec II for an electric Nissan Leaf?
To enthusiasts, it might seem bizarre to trade such an epic sports car for a mundane EV.
The R34 GT-R is arguably the definitive generation of the iconic sports car range.
According to the dealership, Barry said he could not afford to pay for the gasoline anymore for the Skyline.
That is why he came into the dealership and then traded it in for the Nissan Leaf EV.
The dealership said it was actually a straight swap.
An image shared with the post showed a man with his new Leaf, with the R34 GT-R V Spec II in the background.
Finished in a gorgeous Wangan Blue, we know which of the two cars we’d have taken home!
Was it real or a publicity stunt?
The post went viral across Facebook, and it led to some interesting discussions.
Quite a few people speculated as to whether this was actually just an elaborate PR stunt by the dealership.
Announcing something like this would get people talking and make them aware of your dealership.
Some said Barry looked a bit too happy after trading in the Skyline for the Leaf.
As it turned out, the Skyline belonged to Street FX Motorsport and it was all just a big gag.
In fact, the owners even waded in with a humorous reply saying “This has been the worst trade deal in the history of trade dealer, maybe ever… Seriously Barry.”
The car was left on display for a period, and it might have been the most valuable car in the showroom!
According to Classic.com, the highest sale for an R34 was $692,500.

That was for one of the rare and spectacular NISMO versions.
But the average sale figure is $180,708, and even the lowest stands at $84,809.
Even though it was a PR stunt by the dealership, it certainly got a lot of people talking!
