This rare photograph has managed to capture some of the best aircraft in the game, with Concorde, a Boeing 747, and the NASA Enterprise shuttle in one frame.

The Concorde is arguably the most iconic aviation invention of recent times, capable of transporting passengers across the Atlantic in record time.

As for the space shuttle and the specially adapted Boeing 747 carrying the creation, the sight defies belief and gravity – well, almost.

Now, all three have been captured, with the Concorde taking flight into the air whilst NASA’s 747 hauls the Enterprise Shuttle on the ground.

Rare image captured Concorde, a Boeing 747, and the Enterprise Shuttle together

When it comes to airplane royalty, few planes take the top spot, but now three of the greatest have been captured in the same frame.

In an image shared online, a NASA Boeing 747 carrying the Enterprise Shuttle is shown with the Concorde in the background.

Now, the timing of the photo was impeccable, as the person capturing the picture would have had just mere fractions of a second to get all three in all their glory, with different rumored locations of the photo being reported online.

But what makes the Enterprise Shuttle so special?

NASA’s Enterprise Shuttle was the first space shuttle that was ever built.

“Although not space worthy, as a pathfinder, Enterprise carried out tasks critical to ensuring the success of the space shuttle program,” explained NASA.

Carrying the shuttle was NASA 905, which was secured from American Airlines in 1974, and was the first aircraft of its kind.

After the aircraft was accepted by NASA, it flew ‘wake vortex research’ flights as part of a study to find ways to reduce turbulence levels in large aircraft.

Once the studies took place, the 905 was modified by the aviation giant and returned to take part in further tests in 1977, which set the bar high for future orbital flights.

The supersonic aircraft is the most impressive plane on Earth

In the picture, perhaps the most impressive element is Concorde taking off.

The aircraft made flights between London and New York possible in a time frame of three hours at supersonic speeds.

In fact, British Airways’ Concorde completed almost 50,000 flights, taking off at a speed of 250 mph whilst cruising at 1350 mph.

The supersonic creation of Concorde flew so fast that passengers could even see the sun rising on an evening flight.

Flying on the supersonic aircraft was so expensive that not many could afford it, so to allow others to live vicariously through them, a bunch of passengers explained what flying in the iconic airplane was actually like.
