The GTA – Grand Theft Auto – series is one of the most successful and popular video game series of all time.
From its initial release in 1997 to GTA V in 2013, it has proven to be a legendary series of games.
As graphics have advanced, the likeness to real-life vehicles has greatly increased as well.
So this is a list of all the real life car that appear in GTA games as near identical clones.

Real-life cars appear in GTA -and you’ve seen them before
If you’ve ever played GTA and witnessed the cars in-game, you will likely see similarities with real life.
In fact, you would be more than forgiven for re-enacting the famous Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The reason GTA evokes this reaction is often due to the similarity of cars in-game to what you might see in real life.
For example, you more than likely will have seen the Dewbauchee Rapid GT in GTA games.
One quick look at this car will tell you that you’re driving an Aston Martin.
Dewbauchee is very much the in-game take on Aston Martin – even offering a DB5 in GTA V.

Another obvious parallel between the games and real life is the brand Pfister.
The in-game, GTA Pfister Comet is a clear replica of the Porsche 911 sports car.
In addition to the Comet, the Pfister 811 serves as an obvious ode to the Porsche 918 hypercar.
Of course, it’s impossible to make a GTA game without representing one of the world’s biggest car brands.
BMW finds itself very well represented through the Ubermacht Sentinel.
This GTA-created Sentinel serves as a subtle, yet clear tribute to the BMW 3 Series.
Why doesn’t Rockstar use real-life models and brands?
Having read all of this so far, you might be wondering something to yourself.
Why doesn’t Rockstar just use real brand names and real cars in its games?
The answer to that question is as simple as it is expensive.
Rockstar Games do not use real car names and brands due to licensing costs.
Obtaining creative licenses for every brand and every model would be extremely expensive.
It would also be extremely time-consuming to negotiate deals with every major brand.

In addition, there is also the (arguably bigger) issue of creative freedom.
Given the… nature of the games, many major brands might want to avoid association with such actions.
Additionally, customisation (shoutout Los Santos Customs) is a big part of the game.
Brands might not want to be seen as officially endorsing such modifications.
So there you have it – those are some of the real life cars that appear in the games.
