Buying brand-new, affordable, reliable cars used to mean stretching your budget well past $30,000.

But even with the average new car price now pushing past $50,000, there are still a few models that deliver serious long-term value without the big price tag.

A new analysis of millions of vehicles set out to find which affordable cars actually last the longest.

These seven models came out on top of the list of affordable, reliable cars.

1. Affordable, reliable cars: Honda Civic

The Honda Civic sits at the top of the list thanks to its mix of affordability and durability.

With an average price of about $27,768 and an expected lifespan of roughly 13.5 years, it offers one of the best cost-per-year values on the market. 

Civics have long been known for strong reliability ratings and relatively low maintenance costs.

The latest generation also adds modern tech, strong fuel economy, and sharper styling, which helps explain why the Civic continues to dominate the compact car segment.

2. Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla has built its reputation over decades as one of the most dependable cars ever made.

It carries an average price of around $25,423 and an estimated lifespan of about 11.3 years. 

Toyota Corolla models are widely known for simple, durable engineering and excellent fuel efficiency.
