Shaq – also known as Shaquille O’Neal – recently said he doesn’t care that he doesn’t fit into most supercars and will continue to buy them.
At seven-foot-one and weighing over 300 pounds, finding cars that can accommodate a man of his stature has been challenging.
But he has the money to make anything happen, and so he keeps spending money to modify his cars.
What’s more, he isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

Why Shaq spends so much on modified cars
In a recent podcast, Shaq said he’ll continue to buy new supercars, even though he’s clearly too big for most of them.
This has been a recurring problem for the former NBA star, but it’s certainly a nice problem to have, and it’s an issue he can easily work around.
A savvy entrepreneur, he ironically made most of his money after retiring from basketball.
As of 2025 he has a reported net worth above $500 million.
With that much cash to spend on cars, it won’t be too difficult for him to keep modifying the cars he buys.

A recurring theme in his collection
Shaquille O’Neal owns well over 40 cars.
Every vehicle in his collection was customized to meet his taste, but some also had to modified to make him fit.
This, for example, was something he didn’t need to do for his custom Mercedes van or his Cyberbeast Cybertruck, the world’s first carbon Tesla Cybertruck.
But it applies to very nearly every other car he owns.

His Lucid (above) is probably the best and most famous example.
Shaq wouldn’t fit in the four-door Lucid Air, and so he simply had it modified to create the world’s first Lucid Air coupe.
That way, he could move the front seat further back to have enough room for his massive legs.
What’s even more shocking is he did something similar with Ferraris and Lambos.
Imagine that.
