Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he’s resumed a childhood hobby after selling his incredible $13,000,000 car collection.
As you would probably expect from someone who drives racing cars for a living, Hamilton amassed an envy-inducing collection of vehicles.
However, as you probably wouldn’t expect from someone who drives racing cars for a living, last year he decided to sell them all.
And it turns out that he’s picked up a rather surprising hobby to fill his time since saying goodbye to his cars.

Why Lewis Hamilton decided to sell his $13 million car collection
Being one of the most successful F1 drivers in history meant that Hamilton was able to pack his personal car collection with just about any vehicle he wanted.
As well as a Pagani Zonda, Hamilton was the proud owner of a Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta and the AMG One, to name just a few.

But after building a top notch collection, he made the shock decision to sell them all.
Speaking late last year, he revealed there were several reasons why he was planning on getting rid of his entire collection, including environmental concerns and the fact that he ‘didn’t drive any of the cars’ he owned.
He also said he wanted to move away from car collecting and instead focus his time and money on his new passion: art.
Despite selling his entire collection, Hamilton said the one car he would buy would be a Ferrari F40.
“If I were going to get a car, it would be the Ferrari F40. But that’s a nice piece of art,” he said.
However, it seems that art isn’t his only passion, as he’s recently revealed he has resumed a childhood hobby.

Hamilton has picked up an old childhood hobby
In a recent interview with Vogue France, the Ferrari driver admitted that he had spent his youth collecting cards and now, as an adult, he’d started it up again.
“I’m card collecting,” he said.
“There’s like Pokémon. Star Wars, athlete collectible cards. I used to collect cards when I was a kid, particularly for football magazines where you’d find all the players and swap them at school.”
He went on to say that his collection was ‘growing’ and that he was buying new cards every week.

While going from car collecting to card collecting may seem like an odd move, Hamilton actually has an interesting card-related world record that might explain why he’s so keen on trading cards.
Back in December 2024, a Lewis Hamilton one-of-a-kind 2020 Topps Chrome F1 autographed Superfractor sold for just over $1 million setting a new record as the most expensive F1 trading card ever to be sold.
