A Dutch millionaire has officially sold his custom superyacht after just five years.
The Somnium superyacht was custom-built by famed luxury yacht builder Feadship.
The vessel’s award-winning design serves as a tribute to fast cars.
And it has now sold for a whopping $68,000,000.

Custom superyacht wows the luxury world
Somnium isn’t exactly the most unique or famous build to ever come from Feadship.
But one thing for certain is that it was extremely beloved and important to its previous owners.
That is because they not only poured their heart and soul into the build, but they were willing to wait three years to get their hands on it.
This thankfully changed in 2021, when Somnium was revealed as fully active and operational.

The custom superyacht ended up winning the 2022 World Superyacht Award for Displacement Motor Yachts between 500 and 999 GT.

What makes the Somnium so special?
This 180ft superyacht is unique for a few different reasons.
For one, it is an all-aluminum, full-displacement build – highly unusual for Feadship.
Being an all-aluminum build is also a nod to another special quality of Somnium; its shared passion for cars.
It serves as a tribute to fast cars, which happens to be another passion of the superyacht’s previous owners.

Features such as the aft deck take on the design of rear diffusers.
It is rumored that the Somnium used to belong to Dutch millionaire Henk Groeneveld, the man behind the Groeneveld Group.
The Groeneveld Group just so happens to be a supplier to the auto industry.

Somnium was the first custom superyacht to be owned by its previous custodian.
But what is strange is how little time the two spent together.
This month, the custom superyacht changed hands via the exclusive Feadship Resale service.
And clearly the love, care and details that went into the superyacht justify its $68,000,000 price tag.
