The Sultan of Brunei is the proud owner of a car collection worth more than $5,000,000,000.
It’s widely considered the largest private car collection on Earth.
Inside are some of the rarest Ferraris, McLarens, Bentleys, and Rolls-Royces ever built.
And somehow, among all that excess, there’s still space for something surprisingly ordinary.

Inside the $5 billion Sultan of Brunei car collection
The collection most often linked to Hassanal Bolkiah is believed to include around 7,000 cars.
Altogether, they’re estimated to be worth more than $5 billion.
That’s not a typo.

To put that into perspective, Brunei holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest private Rolls-Royce collection on the planet, with more than 500 of the luxury cars.
Imagine a parking lot filled with nothing but Rolls-Royces.
Now imagine that’s just one small section.
It doesn’t stop there.
The royal family reportedly bought 10 McLaren F1s back in the 1990s.
Today, a single F1 can sell for over $20 million.
They also own more than 10 Ferrari F40s, including rare versions modified by Pininfarina.

Then there are the secret, one-off Ferraris that almost no one else on Earth was allowed to buy.
Meanwhile, the Bentley count reportedly climbed past 650, including a strange early SUV called the Dominator that cost around $4.6 million.
There’s even a 24-carat gold-plated Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II stretch limo worth about $14 million.
Yes, actual gold.
All these cars are stored in massive guarded buildings in Brunei.
Some are kept in air-conditioned warehouses.
Others, over the years, were left sitting in the tropical heat, slowly turning into very expensive driveway decorations.

But the Sultan has room for one fairly cheap Corvette
And then, hidden among all the multi-million-dollar machines, there’s a single Chevrolet Corvette.
In most garages, a Corvette is the star.
It’s loud, fast, and something you’d proudly show your friends.
But in the Sultan of Brunei’s collection, it’s basically the budget option.

Next to $20 million McLarens and gold-covered limos, the all-American sports car suddenly looks like the sensible choice.
No custom coachbuilding.
Just a regular performance car.
Which might be the funniest part of all.
When you already own thousands of the rarest cars on Earth, the most surprising thing isn’t another hypercar.
It’s the one car that feels like something you could actually see parked outside your local mall.
