You might know Supercar Blondie as the cars, the cameras, the billion-view videos.
But before all that, there was just Alex: a girl who loved the feeling of being behind the wheel.
Ask what started it all and she’ll say she’s not entirely sure, but memories of doing long road trips with her family and a ride in a stretch limo on her 13th birthday come to mind.
But it wasn’t all stretch limos and holidays, in fact, her foray into driving was a lot less glamorous.

How Supercar Blondie got hooked on cars
Alex says growing up around ‘confident drivers’ made all the difference.
“Mum had this little BMW when I was growing up and she loved driving,” she told us.
“I just remember being in the passenger seat and she loved putting her foot down.”
Being part of a family who drove for the joy of it, not the destination, rubbed off fast.

Pretty soon, Alex was finding her own kind of fun in anything on four wheels.
When she was 13, she asked her parents to rent a stretch limousine for her birthday.
Not to go anywhere, just to be in one.
“I think we were just literally taken around a few blocks,” she said.
“But I really enjoyed it.”
They could’ve gone anywhere or nowhere at all, Alex just loved being inside something that felt a little bit special.
And that quiet thrill never really left.

A few years later came her first set of keys: a seven-year-old Mitsubishi Lancer that had already been broken in by her older brother Sam and sister Nina.
“We had to turn the air-conditioning off to even get up a hill, but I absolutely loved it.”
It wasn’t glamorous, but it was hers.
“As soon as I got behind the wheel, it meant freedom,” she said.

“For me, that’s what piqued my interest even more. I can go anywhere I want at any time.”
The freedom that started in that old Lancer would only find bigger engines.
Alex Hirschi was never chasing fame, just another drive.
Turns out, that was the fastest route to everything that came next.
