Why is Bentley called Bentley?
Like most companies, the Bentley name pays homage to the founder.
In this case, that is no different.
The British company is called what it is due to the name of the brains behind the badge – Walter Owen Bentley.
What year did Bentley start making cars?
Straight after the end of World War One – in 1919.
Due to his efforts in The Great War, ‘W.O’ – as he preferred to be called – was awarded an MBE.
He was also awarded £8000 – worth around $440,000 nowadays – by the Commission of Awards to Inventors to start the now legendary car company.
Where are they built?
Bentleys are built and manufactured at their headquarters in Crewe, England.

How many cars are built per year?
Generally, production numbers fluctuate from year to year.
In 2020, for example, the company managed to produce 11,206 cars worldwide.
However, in 2023, the company produced 13,560 cars.
Overall, the number is generally around the 11,000 mark every year.
What notable car models does Bentley make?
At the moment, three.
The first – and most popular – is the Bentayga.
The Bentayga is an SUV that first launched in 2015.
The Bentayga comes in three variants – an entry-level, 3.0 liter V6 hybrid, a V8, and then the Speed, which uses a W12 engine.
The second – and probably most iconic – model is the legendary Continental GT.
If you happen to have the money and are planning a long, continental cruise, then look no further than the Continental GT.
The company’s grand tourer is designed to absolutely eat up the miles; it’s basically a private members’ club on wheels.
Lastly, there is the Flying Spur.
This is essentially a four-door version of the Continental GT.
What is the most expensive Bentley?
If you happen to have the same amount of money as your favourite athlete, then you’re pretty spoiled for choice.
The most expensive ‘standard’ car that you can buy is the Continental GT Mulliner.
That will cost you around $250,000.
However, you can easily break that barrier by indulging in Bentley’s options list.

What is the cheapest Bentley?
The British brand don’t exactly ‘do’ cheap.
That being said – and since you clearly want to know – the cheapest standard car the brand makes is the most popular one – the Bentayga.
The entry-level hybrid and the V8 options both cost just a touch under $190,000.
What is the fastest Bentley?
Technically, there’s two answers to this, so it depends on how liberally you approach the question.
Officially, the fastest car on record is the Speed 8 prototype.
It won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003, and had a top speed of 215mph. It had a 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 developed by Audi.
If you prefer something that more resembles an actual car, then there’s a different answer.

A limited edition version of the Continental GT broke the Pikes Peak production car record in 2019.
It drove at an average speed of 69.8mph up the 12.42 mile event in Colorado.
It also smashed the previous record, held by a Porsche 911 Turbo S, by 8.4 seconds.
Not bad for a private members’ club on wheels, eh?
Which concept car should you know about?
It’s funny you should ask that.
Alex Hirschi – aka, Supercar Blondie herself – has actually met the concept car in question.
The EXP 100 GT, built to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary.
It essentially looks like a Continental GT if it was designed by aliens.
