A lucky taxi driver managed to score himself a brand new Ferrari with a lottery ticket.

But, after taking the prize decided to swap it for cash.

While a Ferrari was a dream come true, he had other plans for the cash.

He ultimately decided to swap it for a taxi.

Gatis Ruiga, a Taxi driver living in Guernsey, entered the BOTB draw for just 20 cents, buying 10 tickets to try his luck.

BOTOB run competitions for everyday entrants to win luxury cars and holidays, all for a small sum.

It’s the ideal dream for hardworking people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford such luxury items.

So, on the off chance of winning, the driver entered with no idea that he was about to become thousands of dollars richer.

The sum meant he could live the Guernsey dream and drive around in a Ferrari

The driver was having his morning coffee when the doorbell rang, revealing the BOTB team.

And once he realised he’d won himself the red supercar, he was speechless.

A 2020 Ferrari 488 Pista retails at a whopping $331,000.

This one though, was preowned so worth a little less, but still a hefty sum.

But Gatis decided to forgo the Ferrari for the cash prize instead, which was $182,000.

And there’s a heart warming reason as to why.

Gatis called Guernsey home – a channel island just off the coast of mainland England.

A new car as well as a new home- all for less than a single dollar

Thinking logically Gatis wanted to use the money to buy himself his own taxi, to make life just that little bit easier after he recently became a taxi driver.

He also thought that he could use the money to put a down payment on a property- to really hit the ground running on climbing the property ladder.

So, for 20 cents he acquired himself a property and a new car.

Not bad really when you consider you’d pay more for a cheeseburger at McDonald’s.
