The new iOS 17 update is here and the question a lot of people are asking is: what is new?
Some of the new features are useful, while others simply add bonus style points.
As you can imagine, people on Twitter / X have a lot of different opinions about the update.
Mind you, there’s one feature in particular people are absolutely crazy about.

It’s been a big month for Apple.
Firstly, we were introduced to the new iPhone and Apple Watch during Apple’s ‘Wonderlust‘ event.
And now we’ve got a new update that’s available for most iPhone models, including the now less-than-new iPhone XR and SE.

With iOS 17, you can create new contact posters, customize the voice for SIRI, and turn your iPhone into a desk clock while it is charging, allowing it to display different widgets.
Sort of like a computer screensaver.

But the feature everyone’s excited about is the new NameDrop, designed to exchange contacts between two iPhones.
We suspect the cool graphics may have something to do with it.
The new #iOS17 feature, NameDrop, is just mind-blowing 🤯

Not everyone’s happy, though.
Some users are claiming that the promised new emojis aren’t actually there.
Meanwhile, others complain that the new iOS seems to reduce battery life, and apparently makes the iPhone slower.
Why is this ex-Apple store employee spreading misinformation like this? 🤦♂️

iOS 17 is not intended to slow down your phone. Obviously with new features your iPhone might slow down, but Apple makes optimisations to minimise that effect or even completely remove it. My iPhone XS… pic.twitter.com/xpBoTk1qoi
Another thing to bear in mind is you need a sizable amount of space (roughly 4 GB) available in your iPhone for the update.
Then again, the lowest GB iPhones for which the update is available are the XR and the SE.
And they both come with at least 64 GB of space.
