Apple’s latest iPhone update is bringing a handful of small but noticeable changes to Apple CarPlay.

The new iOS 26.4 beta introduces tweaks aimed at making the in-car system cleaner, faster, and a little more secure.

Some of the changes focus specifically on CarPlay, while others improve the apps and features drivers use most on the road.

Here’s a quick look at everything arriving in the update.

1. A new Apple Music privacy prompt

One of the most visible changes appears inside the Apple Music app when it runs through CarPlay.

With iOS 26.4, the system now displays a privacy confirmation message before granting full access to your music library.

In practice, this means users will need to manually approve access rather than having the system connect automatically.

It’s a small tweak, but one that gives drivers a bit more control over their personal data when plugging into a vehicle.

2. A cleaner CarPlay interface may be on the way

Apple also appears to be experimenting with a refreshed visual design.

Early previews in the beta suggest a possible ‘liquid glass’ look, which adds a slightly translucent effect to menus and UI elements.

Alongside that, the Apple Music library layout inside CarPlay looks more organized.

That should make browsing playlists, albums, and artists easier while driving.

3. Faster Apple Music searches and playlists

Apple Music itself is also getting performance upgrades in iOS 26.4.

Creating playlists now happens more quickly, and the app processes complex search requests more efficiently.

For drivers with large music libraries, this should make finding songs through CarPlay much smoother.

It’s not a flashy update, but it’s one that improves everyday usability.

4. New emojis are arriving too

Outside of CarPlay, Apple is also expanding its emoji library.

The new set includes Bigfoot, a trombone, a treasure chest, ice, and a killer whale.

Apple also addressed a bug so emojis display more consistently between iPhones and Android devices.

5. Accessibility settings are getting clearer

Apple has also tweaked its accessibility options.

The feature previously called ‘Reduce Like Effect’ has now been renamed ‘Reduce Brightness Effect.’

The setting reduces glowing animations in areas like Spotlight Search, making the interface more comfortable for people sensitive to visual effects.

A subtle update that improves clarity and usability.

6. The Measurement app becomes more flexible

Finally, Apple has updated the Measurement app.

Users can now switch between metric and imperial units directly within the app’s settings, which makes the tool more convenient for international users.

Apple also introduced a liquid glass visual style here as well, though some testers say the measuring accuracy still needs a little polishing.

Taken individually, these tweaks might seem minor.

But together they show Apple is steadily reshaping the experience on the screen sitting right in the middle of your dashboard.
