The updated iOS 26.4 is set to come with a bunch of new features, and it could be released a lot sooner than you might think.
Every year, Apple releases a new major version of its iPhone operating system, most recently launching iOS 26.
But in between these big launches, Apple releases smaller upgrades that include patches and bug fixes as well as some new features.
Apple is currently gearing up to release iOS 26.4 and it’ll come with some changes for Apple Music, Podcasts, CarPlay and more.

Here’s when you can expect the iOS 26.4 update to arrive
Typically, Apple launches its major iOS updates annually in September, and the first update comes just a few weeks later.
Looking back over the past few years, the iOS 18.4, 17.4, and 16.4 updates were all released between March 5 and March 31, so most Apple users were expecting 26.4 to follow suit and land at some point this month.

And that certainly appears to be the case, with 9to5 Mac recently reporting that the release candidate of iOS 26.4 arrived this week, giving beta testers the chance to try it out.
With the RC version already here, it’s thought that iOS 26.4 could launch for all users as early as next week, from March 23 onwards.
This is assuming all goes well with the beta testing.
Should the RC version of new operating system throw up some unexpected bugs or glitches, then the full release date will likely be pushed back while Apple fixes them.
Either way, it seems fairly sure that the new iOS will be rolled out within the next week or so, meaning iPhone users won’t have too long to wait to try out the new features.
And here’s what features you can expect from the update
The most recent iOS 26 update didn’t come with many new features, but you might be pleased to learn that the upcoming one has crammed quite a few in.
According to 9to5 Mac, iPhone users can expect to find an enhanced video experience on Apple Podcasts, as well as new Sleep and Vitals data on the Health app, and a new Urgent list for Reminders.

Apple Music is set to gain five new features, including an AI Playlist Playground tool, concert info, and a new design for playlists and albums.
The update will introduce support for AI chatbots and video playback for CarPlay.
You’ll also find a revamped and upgraded wallpaper gallery and some new emojis.
