Tennis star Andy Murray sold his Ferrari F430 just a few months after buying it.

He did it for two reasons.

One had to do with insurance.

But it was the second reason that was the real deal-breaker.

Tennis star Andy Murray decided to treat himself to a new Ferrari F430 after cashing his first hefty paychecks.

Murray turned pro in 2005 and won his first major title in 2012.

By 2023, Murray was bringing home tens of millions every year. In fact, he’s now the fourth-highest-paid tennis player of all time after Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.

When you combine prize money, endorsements, and everything else, Murray made at least $130 million throughout his career, and so a $250,000 Ferrari was no big deal to him.

However, as he explained in an interview with the Telegraph, it was still not worth it.

Insurance was the first issue.

He could afford it, of course, but he still thought it was ludicrously high.

But the main problem was practicality.

“It was incredibly impractical, particularly when it came to finding space for a friend or for my tennis bag, so I decided to sell it after a few months,” Murray said.

Murray isn’t the only celebrity to opt for a more humble ride after realizing flashy cars just don’t cut it.

Scottie Sheffler, a golfer with a net worth north of $90 million, is still using a 2012 GMC Yukon as his daily driver.

Then there’s the famous case of Warren Buffett, one of the world’s richest men, who still drives a dented Cadillac.

For a very long time, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg was also described as a wealthy celebrity who kept a very low profile.

Although, to be fair, Zuckerberg probably no longer belongs to this particular category, considering he’s now regularly spotted wearing watches that cost a lot more than the aforementioned Ferrari.
