A North Carolina US Army veteran broke down the real cost of charging a Tesla Cybertruck and Model Y, and the numbers turned heads.

He’s only been in the EV world for a short time, but his daily charging bills tell a story most people never hear, but might want to.

Now he’s convinced that going electric was one of the smartest financial moves he ever made.

He also says the savings are so dramatic that most people simply have no idea how affordable these EVs actually are in everyday use.

The price of charging a Tesla Cybertruck

This army vet and YouTuber owns a pair of Tesla EVs.

His Tesla Cybertruck has a massive 122.4kwh battery pack, but even with that size, the real-world charging cost is far lower than most people would expect when they see it.

At a typical Supercharger rate of 36 cents per kilowatt hour, a full zero-to-100 percent charge works out at about $44.

He pointed out that most gas-powered trucks cost double that for a full tank, putting the Cybertruck on the cheaper side, even when using public fast charging.

The difference becomes even bigger at home. His local electricity rate is 10 cents per kilowatt hour, which brings a full charge down to just over $12.

On a normal day, he only uses about 20 percent of the battery, which costs around $2.44 to refill overnight.

He says those numbers alone are enough to make any truck owner rethink their gas-powered truck.

His Model Y, by comparison, is a no-brainer

Alongside his Cybertruck, the vet also has a Tesla Model Y.

His Tesla Model Y Long Range uses a smaller 75kwh battery, and the charging costs drop even further.

At a Supercharger, a full charge costs roughly $27, already beating the average fuel cost of most SUVs.

Charging at home, though, changes everything – the price falls to $7.50 for a full battery, and his daily 20 percent top-up costs about $1.50.

He says the Model Y is the perfect example of how EVs save money quietly in the background while owners go about their day.

The YouTuber admits he was skeptical before buying his first EV, but the savings have made him an advocate for going electric.

He says home charging is fast, cheap, and easy, and that the real-world numbers prove electric ownership is far more affordable than people think.

For him, the choice now is simple: it’s all-electric from here on out.
