A Tesla Cybertruck owner from Texas who is considering getting a second vehicle and has been weighing up his options, including the Ford F-150 Lightning, but admits he would prefer to get another Cybertruck.
The Tesla Cybertruck began rolling off the production line in 2023, following several delays.
Prior to its launch, Tesla had high hopes for the Cybertruck, but sales have been lackluster.
Nonetheless, one Cybertruck owner from Dallas, Texas, is so happy with his that he’s considering buying another as he doesn’t reckon anything else on the market can compete.

The Tesla Cybertruck owner has researched a potential second EV
With the Tesla Cybertruck being more than a year old, we’ve seen a handful of owners keen to share their thoughts on how the EV runs from day to day.
Some aren’t particularly impressed, like this man who made a list of 10 reasons why he regrets buying his Cybertruck.
But over on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, a member called Abilisk is so happy with his that he thinks any other EV truck pales in comparison.
In fact, he even started his post by declaring it ‘the greatest vehicle ever conceived’.
However, he’s on the look out for a ‘secondary’ truck that he can drive into ‘risky territory’ amid concerns his Tesla Cybertruck could get vandalized.
He looked at the specs of a bunch of other EV trucks, including the Chevy Silverado EV, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the Rivian R1T Quad, but said only the Rivian came close, and he didn’t want to part with more money for a ‘lesser truck’.
By the end of the post, it seemed as though Abilisk had dismissed other options, like the Ford F-150 Lightning, and convinced himself that a second Cybertruck was the answer.
In response, a fellow forum user suggested that rather than an additional truck, the Tesla Cybertruck owner get a Model Y.
The Cybertuck has had a tough year
While the Tesla Cybertruck owner above is clearly over the moon with his purchase, it’s safe to say it hasn’t been the smoothest ride for the EV.
In 2023, Tesla boss Elon Musk predicted the company could sell as many as 250,000 Cybertrucks per year.
But that hasn’t come to fruition.
In the second quarter of 2025, the manufacturer sold just 4,306 units, representing a 50.8 percent decrease from the same period in 2024.
There are several reasons that the hype didn’t translate into sales, including the Cybertruck’s higher price point, which will increase when the $7,500 federal EV tax credit is cut in October.
In a bid to tempt new customers, Tesla has recently introduced a free transfer of its $12,000 self-driving system to the Cybertruck.
