The single largest bi-plane in the world has recently been snapped sitting on its laurels in a field in America.
Bi-planes are synonymous with Hollywood nowadays, having become a staple in franchises like Fast and Furious, carting supercars through the air for a very dramatized skydive, and in Call of Duty: Warzone skirting players over Verdansk for deployment.
Although cinema now uses much bigger dual-engine bi-planes, the single-turbine carriers were once the world’s most important planes, featuring heavily in the second half of the 1900s.
Now, many of them are laid to rest, and that even goes for the world’s largest bi-plane which currently sits disassembled in a random field in America.

The world’s largest bi-plane found in America
A recent YouTube upload from ‘Jimmys World’ showcased the largest bi-plane in the world, which had only done a handful of trips.
The vlog revealed that the plane was originally from Russia, where it flew over to Alaska before being sold in Oregon.
This particular Antonov An-2 from 1974 had just 340 hours of flight time on the engine.
The plane was mostly intact.
Some parts had been sold or removed to finish restoration projects on other aircraft, but the main cargo hold and wings were in good condition, with just a lick of paint needed.
Inside, the hold has multiple stretcher hooks for skydiving, and the old radio system is still fully functional towards the huge cargo door.
The new owner has several run-down planes in a derelict aircraft graveyard that will soon be restored.
The man had slowed down his work over the last few years to look after his wife before she passed, but he will now refocus on the planes by restoring them with his crew or rehoming them to new buyers.

Fortunately, this tale has quite a nice next chapter.
After once being military grade, this capsule will soon be taking flight once again and fulfilling its potential again.
The new owner, interviewed throughout the vlog, revealed that he plans to get it back up and running by reattaching the wings and restoring the rest of the plane before turning it into a skydiving enterprise.
Plane restorations have become increasingly popular, and just recently, a WWII Wildcat was unveiled after being fished out of Lake Michigan and surgically repaired for over ten years.
