A remarkable statistic has revealed that nearly three-quarters of all electric motorcycles sold in the United States come from the same company, a spinoff of Harley-Davidson.

Amidst the EV craze, it is often forgotten that electric motorcycles are slowly becoming more prominent, with various brands looking to modernize what they offer.

But they all have one dominant force to aim for, as Harley-Davidson’s electric spinoff LiveWire is dominating EV bike sales in the United States.

Yet even though it’s clearly ahead of its rivals, there is one important caveat that applies to the statistic.

LiveWire controls electric motorcycle sales in America

Initially, Harley-Davidson launched LiveWire as an electric motorcycle offshoot of the main brand back in 2019.

But in 2022, the company announced that LiveWire would become its own dedicated manufacturer.

This made it the first publicly traded electric motorcycle company in the United States.

In the 50+ horsepower on-road electric motorcycle segment, the company claimed a 70 percent market share.

That sounds like utter dominance, especially in a very specific part of the market.

The manufacturer said it sold 653 electric motorcycles in 2025, which was up seven percent from the 612 in 2024.

Yet those are comparatively small numbers, which is the big caveat here.

While LiveWire has asserted some dominance, the reality is that this slice of the market is incredibly small.

Competing for a small slice of the electric motorcycles market

Less than 1,000 bikes sold across the year is not a massive leap for the Harley-Davidson spinoff.

There was some movement in the market.

In Q4 of 2025, sales jumped by 61 percent to 381 bikes in the market.

But it’s still a tiny slice of what is a relatively new part of the automotive landscape.

Plus, revenue in the segment actually fell 28 percent in 2025 versus 2024.

In 2024, the revenue stood at $8.4 million, but in 2025, it fell to $6.1 million.

The 70 percent market share held by LiveWire is only in the 50+hp segment.

It is clear, however, that LiveWire is leading the way when it comes to these bikes.

But more time is needed to see if it can maintain this dominance throughout the whole EV motorcycle market.
