A video posted by a Chicago-based woman on TikTok went viral as it showed her flabbergasted by the amount she had to pay for an oil change on her Mercedes-Benz.

She also mentioned that it was a routine oil change at her local dealership.

It was an old car, and the woman was in utter shock.

Viewers further gave her tips on how to save money on regular maintenance and oil changes, which she jokingly replied to.

Woman baffled by Mercedes-Benz oil change cost

TikTok user Nelly, who goes by @nelllyyyy1, recently posted a video of her sitting at a Mercedes-Benz dealership.

“$800 for an oil change at Mercedes-Benz. You can keep the car,” the TikTok video read.

Although she didn’t say anything particular in the video, Nelly mentioned she loves her luxury car.

Plus, she made this video ‘just for laughs’ — but the bill was almost certainly real.

The TikTok video attracted a massive number of views, and it currently has over 136,000 views at the time of writing.

Luxury and exotic cars often come with high maintenance costs compared to everyday cars, and Mercedes-Benz is obviously not an exception.

For instance, you could buy an entire ‘everyday’ car for the cost of an oil change in a Bugatti Veyron.

While some cars have the same process of an oil change as most vehicles, exceptions like the Veyron exist.

Why do the costs vary?

Performance hypercars like the Veyron are built using proprietary mechanisms, and someone even showed how it’s done.

Nelly’s luxury car, however, doesn’t require anything extraordinary other than a skilled mechanic.

Viewers of her TikTok video suggested alternatives to get an oil change service done elsewhere so she could save some cash.

“Don’t use the dealership!! Find a local who is certified,” one commenter said.

Another mentioned, “I don’t get service A, B, or C; I just use import mechanics to service my S550, and it saves me a lot of money.”

While that’s mostly true, Nelly likely wasn’t aware of the fact.

You can potentially save a lot of money by visiting a local certified mechanic for regular maintenance.

It’s the same story with spare parts, which is also why a YouTuber built a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series using parts from Temu.

He could’ve gotten OEM parts directly from Mercedes, but its price would’ve been exponentially higher.
