Top car mod trends of 2025: Wrap vs Paint

People’s love for their cars is universal, but in 2025, certain ways of showing affection for them are more popular than others, so, what are the top car mod trends of 2025? And we ask the universal question: wrap or paint?

As always, people’s car modifications are driven by the need to put their own stamp on their rides, as well as a very 2025-specific trend: sustainability.

In paint, there seems to be a trend towards rich, deep neutral shades and subtle metallic finishes, while wraps are lower cost, and less permanent – important if you struggle to make up your mind.

The choice between the two depends on your budget, desire for temporary or permanent change, and your preferred aesthetic, with wraps offering greater customization and paint providing a more classic finish.

Car mod trends: Wraps

The main positive for car wraps is that they’re ideal for temporary changes, and one supercar can look as many different ways as you want it to.

You can get different designs with wraps that you can’t get with paint, like gradients, QR codes, and even hyper-realistic textures like brushed metal and carbon fiber.

In 2025, car wrap trends have been leaning more towards vibrant, eye-catching colors, like bright neon blues, fluorescent yellows, or luminous lime.

Retro and nostalgic graphics inspired by classic motorsports seem to be making a comeback, too.

Matte and satin finishes have been very popular this year, especially for creating a modern, popular look, and a new trend in color films, including trendy teals, turquoises, and pastels.

Wraps are often 30 to 50 percent cheaper than a premium paint job, and not only do they look good, but they also protect the original paint from UV rays and minor scratches.

Car mod trends: Paint

While the car wraps of 2025 lean more to the side of neon, paint is trending towards new shades of reds and violets – dark neutral tones with lots of depth and energy.

Metallic paints are all the rage, but in more subtle ways, with small metallic flakes being a popular paint trend, alongside an expansion of soft, often pastel colors.

Paint jobs give a more natural and rich vibe than a wrap, and obviously, they’re far more permanent.

While even the most premium paint jobs will require touch-ups over time, a good one, while built to last, sadly will come with a much higher price tag.

Basic paint jobs start around $3,000, but premium finishes can be up to $10,000 and sometimes more, very often costing more than alternatives.

So, wraps or paints?

It’s really down to you.

If you want a temporary and reversible change and the choice of a wide range of unique designs and finishes, a wrap is for you – especially as it won’t break the bank.

However, if you want a permanent, long-lasting change with a high-quality finish or just a classic, deep color appearance, then a premium paint job is for you.
