Sometimes asking your husband to do one simple thing can turn into a surprisingly expensive decision, and this Toyota 4Runner story is a cautionary tale for any husband that wants to cut corners.
One woman apparently got tired of waiting for her husband to change the oil in her Toyota 4Runner and decided to take matters into her own hands.
She headed out in her SUV and returned home in a brand-new Lexus GX550 instead.
The hilarious TikTok has people joking that this might be the most expensive oil change ever.
An oil change on her Toyota 4Runner magically became a new Lexus
Tennessee TikTok creator Michael, who posts under the account @michaelandcole8512, shared the hilarious video showing his wife driving away from their home in a white Toyota 4Runner.
“Hey, where you going? I was gonna get it,” Michael says as she pulls away.
A text overlay adds to the joke, reading, “I should’ve changed it sooner, I guess.”

Whatever she was heading out to do, she clearly wasn’t planning on waiting around for her husband to get the job done.
The next shot shows her pulling back up to the house, except there’s one pretty major difference: she’s no longer driving the Toyota 4Runner.
Instead, she arrives in a white Lexus GX550, and you can hear the husband’s audible noise of disgust.
So apparently, when your husband takes too long to book an oil change, there’s always another option: buy an entirely different SUV.

The video is clearly meant as a joke rather than evidence that someone genuinely traded a 4Runner for a Lexus because of an overdue oil change, but that didn’t stop viewers from getting involved.
One commenter joked that she ‘saved her money on the oil change’, while another said it can apparently take less time to buy a car from a dealership than to get an oil change there.
Someone else simply summed up the situation as a ‘$90K oil change’, making it one of the most expensive oil changes around.
The Lexus GX550 is a serious upgrade
If the fictional oil-change revenge story were real, at least she picked a pretty impressive replacement.
The Lexus GX is one of the brand’s rugged luxury SUVs, combining a boxy design and serious off-road hardware with a much more upscale cabin.
For the 2025 model year, the GX 550 gets a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive.
Depending on the version, it can also tow more than 9,000 pounds, while the Overtrail models are designed with extra off-road capability in mind.
The GX is also considerably more expensive than simply paying for an oil change.

Lexus currently lists the GX starting at $68,335 in the US, with the vehicle shown on its website priced at $85,300.
That makes the joke about a $90,000 oil change feel surprisingly believable.
Maybe just change the oil next time
The whole thing also highlights how ridiculous it would be to replace a perfectly good vehicle simply because it needs routine maintenance.
Oil changes are one of the most basic bits of car maintenance, and putting them off isn’t exactly a great idea. But spending tens of thousands of dollars on another SUV to avoid doing one would be taking things to an entirely different level.
That’s especially true when the replacement is a Lexus GX550, which is a seriously capable luxury SUV rather than a cheap runaround.
Of course, there is another option: just change the oil.
The commenters certainly seemed to agree.
“Next time change the oil, fool,” one viewer wrote.
And honestly, that might be the cheapest advice in the entire video.
