Uber is set to launch self-driving cars in Britain as soon as next year, which means that the future is here.

This new release could change taxi rides forever, for the better.

The UK Government has said that the trial of self-driving taxi and bus-like services will hit the road in 2026.

It seems Britain is finally following its neighbors across the pond.

Uber is arguably the world’s largest taxi platform.

However, the car world is rapidly advancing thanks to new technology and the increase in the number of electric vehicles taking to both the road and cruising through the air.

To keep up with the times, various companies have come up with recent new launches.

For example, Tesla has launched its FSD ‘Robotaxi’ service in certain American cities.

Plus, a flying taxi that was built in the US could soon potentially serve in UK civil and defense missions.

And, the UK is set for even more exciting taxi news too.

Uber has decided to bring forward the trial of driverless taxis within the country, which could revolutionize travel in a whole new way.

According to the UK Government’s website:

“Pilots of self-driving taxi and bus-like services will be brought forward by a year to spring 2026, attracting investment and making the UK one of the world leaders in this technology.”

Sounds exciting, right?

So, by next spring, Brits can finally discuss something other than the weather.

The company is set to work with an AI firm called Wayve to make the creation hit the road.

But only time will tell if the autos in the test run will be at customers ‘ beck and call.

The news comes after the US had already rolled out the travel option across the pond.

In fact, one British man who went to LA ordered a cab and was in shock as he didn’t realize that the taxi would actually be self-driving.

For now, though, keep your eyes peeled as the driverless taxis will soon be rolled out – at least there will be no awkward small talk when taking a taxi ride.
